Knitting with Beads

Knitting with beads is much easier than I thought

Hat and gloves from " Knitting in the Details" by Louisa Harding. Could not get a hard copy, so bought the online PDF which was great as it was an instantaneous download . This is a great first book to get you started with knitting with beads, excellent easy to understand instructions and small projects. Had great fun with this.

A New Beginning

I have had a fairly tumultuous year, began by trashing the couch (actually just stripping it down) as it was in dire need of recovering and re upholstering. finished photo in a minute.
I then finally succumbed to months of agony and not being able to walk properly and had a foot and ankle operation which involved twelve weeks in a cast with no weight bearing and keeping ones foot up all the time which might sound ok but sends one slightly crazy being unable to get around.

Prior to this we had been making a new kitchen for our projected new house, designed by me and carcases made by my husband and drawer and door fronts polished by me out of Hoop Pine Ply.

nice pink cast

Pretty pleased with the result

Did some knitting while on the couch Rowan baby merino silk DK very lovely wool to knit with

a quick make

If you do go to Spotlight and want to make something quick and easy buy a bit of this also.
I think it is called Minkie - will show you later in the week involves buttons also

Two days in a row!!!

My learning curve is increasing on this relatively new Apple Mac. quite a few differences from the older HP desktop but photo opportunities are certainly expanded enormously.

First of all, if anyone is interested in making the Dr.Seuss cushion or in fact anything else from this fabric get along to Spotlight quick, they currently have 40% off this range which brings it down from around $25.00 a metre to $15.00 and you certainly do not need a whole metre of all the fabrics in the range just small amounts of each. Download the tutorial from the wonderful Nova flitter of :-
www.acuppaandacatchup.com and away you go.

The Tutorial is called Peek-a-boo bunting tutorial.

Buttons are also one of my favourite items and I collect far too many. However the Bentleigh Market on a Sunday morning often has the Button Lady stall where there is  fascinating range of buttons very reasonably priced. She is next there on June 30th so if you are in the are check it out.

Scandinavian Stitches and other stuff

Purchased a copy of Scandinavian Stitches by Kajsa Wikman from Amitie (www.amitie.com.au)

Lovely book with some really great ideas, Made a road cushion and some little dolls. Enjoying the book.
My favorite doll is this one above. Had great fun with these. The book is well worth a look.

Also got inspiration from  a Russian doll fabric and made this cushion, linen and liberty with some piping I made from the green spot. The little dolls are cut outs from the Russian doll fabric.
